Eugenia Brugane

Eurgenia Brugane  (nèe Kopteva; 17th of November 1903, Lomza, Congress Poland, Russian Empire – 3rd of January 1985, Riga, Latvian SSR) – the famous Latvian harp player and teacher.

E. Brugane graduated from Moscow Conservatory, the class of harp. After marrying (in 1920) she moved to Latvia. Thus, her further biography is closely connected with Riga. Her first place of work was Riga Art Theatre (Dailes teātris) under the guidance of an outstanding Latvian producer E. Smilgis. She was in charge of the musical department of the theatre. Only in 1933 E. Brugane got an opportunity to work in an orchestra – The Symphonic Orchestra of Latvian Radio, where she had been working from 1933 to 1978. There she was solo performing the famous musical masterpieces of  P. Chaikovsky, A. Glazunov and N. Rimsky-Korsakov, as well as the music of Latvian composers.
