Serafima Bogdanova

Serafima Bogdanova (24th of August 1927, Saratov Governorate, Russian SFSR – 25th of November 2008, Riga, Republic of Latvia) – Candidate of Pedagogical Sciences, the Docent of the Department of Russian Literature, the Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Philology of the Latvian State University (since 1990 – the University of Latvia).

Serafima Bogdanova was born in Russia, in 1945 she moved to Riga. She studied at the Department of Russian Language and Literature of the Philological faculty of the Latvian State University. From 1951 to 1959 S. Bogdanova had been teaching Russian language at the the Latvian State University. She  was also an excellent secondary school teacher. In 1980 S. Bogdanova defended her candidate thesis on the methodology of teaching Russian in national (Latvian) school and was the author of many text-books and articles on the techniques of teaching Russian.
