Philippe Paulucci
Philippe Paulucci (1779–1849) – marquis, born in Italy. From 1807 served in Russian army. Was appointed Military Governor of Riga in October 1812. Led battles against Napoleon’s armies approaching Riga. Was Governor-General of the Baltic provinces of Russia from 1818 to 1829. Retired in 1829 and returned to Italy, where he took up a post of Governor in the province of Genoa and of Minister for the Sardinian king.
