Irina Saburova

Irina Saburova

Irina Saburova (1907, Riga, Russian Empire – 1979, Munich, FRG) – writer.  Her path to creativity started in pre-war Riga. In 1944 she emigrated to the West. In 1947 – 1949 she wrote the novel «Ships of the Old Town»; the only fiction work of «Russian Riga«. The book appeared originally in German and only in 1972 in Russian. In 2005 the book was published in Latvia for the first time.
