Riga Polytechnic Institute

In 1862 was Riga Polytechnic (college) was founded with teaching in German. It became the Polytechnic Institute in 1896, with teaching in Russian. In 1919 was transformed into the University of Latvia. In 1869 the Polytechnic’s main building was built on the Successor Boulevard. This is now the main building of the University of Latvia.
