The Alexander  High School

The Alexander High School

The Alexander  High School  for Men. Founded in 1868 and worked from 1873 to 1915 in this building (nowadays used by the Latvian Academy of Music). It was the largest establishment of secondary education in the 1911-12 academic year. The well known Latvian scientists Augusts Kirhenšteins and Pauls Stradiņš were pupils of this school.

The opening of Russian schools was a result of Russian national awakening in the Baltic area
