Leo Bukovsky

Leo Bukovsky (1910 – 1984) - received his education at the time of the first period of Latvian independence. He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Latvia and then the Academy of Arts in Florence. In his works he strove towards plastic summarisation and laconism of form. His talents as a monument sculptor came through most clearly in his work on the Salaspils Memorial Complex, created to commemorate the victims of Nazi concentration camps.

Leo Bukovsky was a member of the Union of Artisrs of the Latvian Soviet Republic, since 1957 - People's Artist of the Latvian Soviet Republic, correspondent-member of the Academy of Arts, was awarded premiums and an order.
