Geroida Bogdanova

Geroida Bogdanova (30th of April 1934 East Siberian oblast, RSFSR, USSR - 21st of July 2019, Vladimir, Russian Federation) – the director of the Centre of Russian Culture in Daugavpils from 1994 to 2019.

Geroida Bogdanova was born on 30th of April 1934 in Siberia where she got the best impressions of the grand nature and industrious, kind people. These impressions affected her character and personality.

In 1957 Geroida Bogdanova graduated from Daugavpils Pedagogical Institute. She had been working as a teacher and was awarded the title of the Honoured Teacher of the Latvian Soviet Socialist Republic.

Since 1994 G. Bogdanova had been the head of the Centre of Russian Culture in Daugavpils. The center promotes Russian culture, traditions, supports folk creative activities, holds concerts, festivities, competitions, days of Slavic culture.

Geroida Bogdanova has made a great contribution to the protection and promotion of Russian culture in Latvia and was awarded the medal of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Cross of Recognition by V. Zatlers and the Pushkin medal.
