Bridge Construction in Riga

The Railway Bridge was destroyed during the Second World War. It had been completely rebuilt by 1951.

The Akmeņu (Stone) Bridge (initially – October Bridge) was built in 1957. Designers of the project: G. Popov and K. Yakovlev (Moscow).

The Salu (Island) Bridge (Initially - Moscow Bridge) was designed by engineers from Leningrad and opened in December 1976. Length of the bridge - 3.5 km.

The Vanšu (Anchor roost) Bridge (Former – Gorky Bridge) was opened in 1981. Designed by Ukrainian bridge builders. The metallic constructions of the span were manufactured in Voronezh (Russia).
