Photos from the archive of Riga Russian student fraternity Ruthenia

The faternity was established in Riga by the Russian students of the University of Latvia in 1929 as a result of the split in Fraternitas Arctica. In 1940 Ruthenia, as all other non-govermental organizations, was closed. During the years of Nazi occupation the fraternity was partially reestablished. In 1944 a prominent number of the members decided to emigrate to the West. Being abroad, they very quickly restored their lost ties, the faternity was reborn and existed till 1998.

The album was prepared by D. Levitsky and T. Feigmane.
