Student sororities in Latvia (and also in Estonia) are a unique, non-conventional phenomena. Initially, two Russian sororities were established by the University of Latvia: Sororitas Slavia  and Tatiana.  In the October of 1933 a mutual decision of both sororities to unite was taken. The new sorority was named Sororitas Tatiana. 17th of January 1932, the date of establishment of Tatiana was considered as the date of foundation.

Colours of the newly established sorority were: light green, blue, scarlet.

In 1939 the sorority had 60 members (4 honorary filisters, 13 filisters, 37 rightful members and 6 fuxes (candidates)).

In 1940 the sorority, along with other organizations, was closed by the Soviet authorities.

In 1990 Sororitas Tatiana resumed its activities.
