Joseph Batalin

Joseph Batalin (1882, Kovno Governorate, Russian Empire – 1954, Riga, Riga Seaside, Latvian SSR) –teacher of physics, math and astronomy.

Joseph Batalin was born in 1882 in Lithuania. He got pedagogical education and graduated from  the  faculty of physics and mathematics of the University of Petersburg.  During the First World War he served in the artillery. In 1919 began to work as a teacher of physics, maths, astronomy  and class mentor n Riga city Russian gymnasium. He was a member of the Union of Teachers in Latvia. He sang in Church choir, was in the Board of the singing society «Bayan».
