Leonid Vitvitsky

Leonid Vitvitsky (1856, Kherson Governorate, Russian Empire – 1920, Riga, Republic of Latvia) –  journalist and editor, theatrical leader of the Russian Empire period.

L.Vitvitsky worked in Riga as journalist and editor for many years. At 22 he was already an editor of the Russian newspapers. L.Vitvitsky became known in the history of the Latvian Russians also as theatrical figure. He was  the first artistic director oh the Russian City Theatre. L.Vitvitsky was one of the leaders of the Progressive Bloc during the elections to the First State Duma. During the First World War he lived in Petrograd but in 1920 returned to Riga where  he soon died.
