Viktoria Pelshe

Viktoria Pelshe (26th of December 1936, Moscow, Russian SFSR) – a sculptor. Her works adorn the parks of Riga and many serious collections of modern art.

Viktoria Pelshe was born in Moscow. In 1951 her family moved to Riga. In 1954 she graduated from Riga Secondary School Nr. 13 and in 1959 - from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering of Riga Polytechnic Institute. After finishing her studies, she moved to Norilsk, where she had been working as electrical engineer from 1959 till 1960. In 1962-1967 she had been working as a teacher of electrical technology at Riga Industrial Politechnicum.  

Simultaneously she studied at the department of sculpture of Latvian State Academy of Arts. After graduating from the Academy in 1967, she started working as a sculptor at the art plant «Māksla» («Art»), where she had been working from 1968 till 1992.  

She had been participating in professional exhibitions since 1962. In 1972 Viktoria Pelshe was accepted into the Union of Artists of Latvian SSR. 

Her works are kept in the collections of Latvian National Art Museum (4 works), Latvian Union of Artists (7 works), Tretyakov Gallery in Moscow (3 works), Museum Ludwig in Cologne (1 work), as well as in private collections in Latvia, USA, France, Germany, Austria and Russia.
