Igor Sikorsky

Igor Sikorsky (1889, Kyiv, Russian Empire – 1972, Easton, Connecticut, USA) –  a founder of Russian aircraft construction,  aircraft constructor in Russo-Balt.

Under his supervision in Riga in 1911 started the «Russian Knight» planning – the first heavy multi-engine aircraft in the world. In 1914 the «Ilya Muromets» aircraft was constructed in a department of Russo-Balt in St Petersburg in accordance with designs of Mr. Sikorsky. A number of parts for these aircraft were produced in Riga.
