The Church ‘Source of Life’
In 1731 the hospice church in the name of the Icon of the Virgin ‘Source of Life’ was erected at the corner of the present day K. Valdemāra and Ģertrūdes Streets. It burnt down during the advance of the Napoleonic armies towards Riga. The church was never restored. Only the venerated Icon of the Most Sacred Virgin ‘Source of Life’ has been preserved.
